Band Student Handbook and Acknowledgement
All students and parents are required to read the "RSMS Band Student Handbook."  The Handbook describes, in detail, all the ensembles at RSMS, expectations, and required materials for the year.

After reading the handbook, both the student and parent should sign the "Band Handbook Acknowledgement Form" and return it to Mr. Tyndall during the first week of school.  Place the signed form in the locked box outside his office.

School-Owned Instrument Maintenance Agreement
Students who use school-owned instrument are required to fill out and sign a Maintenance Agreement assuming responsibility for the care and up-keep of the instrument.  There is a ONE-TIME maintenance fee of $50.00 to cover all costs of normal maintenance for the year and repair of the school-owned instruments. 

Percussionists are required to pay a $25.00 maintenance fee for coverage of all percussion equipment for the year.

CLICK HERE to print a copy of the maintenance agreement for Winds and Percussion.  Signature from both parent and student are needed.  Please return the completed form and any fees in a sealed envelope to the lock box the first week of school.

Practice Record / Log 
As explained in the Band Handbook, a portion of the band class grade will be based on a Practice Log turned in each nine weeks. 

6th Grade and 7th/8th Grade Concert Band = 3 hours per week (27 hours total per grading period)
Symphonic Band = 4 hours per week (36 hours total per grading period)

Practice time should be recorded regularly and turned in according to the dates specified on the band calendar.

Family Information Form
The success of a band program is tied directly to TWO factors:

1)  the level of participation by the parents of the band students
2)  the quality of communication between the director and students/parents

You can make the RSMS Band program a success by filling out and returning the Family Information Form.  Information will be shared via this web site and through regular emails to the addresses you provide.

In addition, you have the opportunity to volunteer to help the band in many ways ... by helping with fundraising events, chaperoning trips, helping with Honor Band, and others.  Please take a moment to consider how you can help make this program even more successful.
