Starr Middle School Symphonic Band
The Rising Starr Middle School
Symphonic Band was formed with the opening of the school in the fall
of 1997. The Symphonic Band is comprised of seventy-five
seventh and eighth grade students and consistently receives superior
ratings at district level Large Group Performance Evaluation
governed by the Georgia Music Educators’ Association. The band
has received invitations to perform for the University of Georgia
Middle School Festival (1999), the University of Southern
Mississippi Instrumental Conductor’s Conference (2001), the Troy
State University Southeastern United States Middle School Concert
Band Clinic (2002), the Georgia Music Educators’ Association
In-Service Conference (2003), the 57th Annual Midwest Clinic in
Chicago, Illinois (2003), the Western International Band Clinic in
Seattle, Washington (2005) and the Bands of America/Music for All
National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis (2007), and once
again the 62nd Midwest Clinic in 2008. Students from Rising Starr
regularly qualify for District Honor Band and participate in local
Solo and Ensemble Festival. In addition, the band program has
been represented in the Georgia Middle School All-State Band every
year since the program began.
The members of the Rising Starr
Middle School Symphonic Band are honored to represent their school
and community for the second time at the Bands of America/Music For
All National Concert Band Festival in 2011..
