**** CONCERT BAND will have one rehearsal in preparation for our Pre-LGPE
performance. This rehearsal will be on Tuesday, March 16th from 3:45 until
4:30 p.m. PLEASE make arrangements to attend this rehearsal!
LGPE (festival) is the most important performance for our groups. It is a
Georgia Music Educator’s Association sanctioned event, and is designed to
provide adjudication, through recorded and written comments, that will
assist the band members and the director identify both strengths and
weaknesses in the overall program.
I am very VERY pleased with the hard work that each student has put into
preparing for these important concerts. Please continue to encourage your
child to work hard and practice every day!
Finally – these are tough times for the Fine Arts in the state of Georgia.
Fulton County’s superintendent will propose to their board tonight the
elimination of the ENTIRE 4th and 5th grade band program. I am a product of
the Fulton County band program, having started band in the 4th grade at
Meadows Elementary. This is scary, and will spread like wildfire. PLEASE
become an advocate of the fine arts in Fayette County and the entire state.
Be ready to voice your concerns IF the need arises here in Fayette!
